I'm trying to download it via the itch.io app. It constantly cycles through the "Computing space requirements" message and won't allow me to click the Install button.
Don't know it's an issue on my end but I have enough space to download, and most install for other games go fine.
Very strange, I'm not sure what's happening since it seems to be working fine for me. You can try downloading and installing manually without using the itch app from https://cosmoteer.net/. If that works for you, then that would indicate it's specifically a problem with the itch app that I can't do anything about, and Itch support might be able to help.
After playing Voidship: The Long Journey, I think there are 2 major features that Cosmoteer needs. First, an actual campaign. Voidship has randomized galaxies and events, as well as a plot and the ability to make decisions. Secondly, Voidship lets you take control of a ship and fly it with WASD. The feature is useless in large fleet battles, but it makes 1-on-1s a lot more fun. Cosmoteer has a much better ship design system (it's really awesome), but Voidship makes playing them a lot more enjoyable.
This game is a (insert very posotive adjective here coupled with swear here) game. But 2 things. One: This might be annoying to some people, but instead immediatly repairing replacing or building parts, maybe add a construction wait? no more than minute though, obviously (you could make this all possible in battle to balance it). And i would like to know if this game will cost money in the future. Can i have an answer please? EDIT: Also there are some people with amazing ideas *cough 2 comments down cough*. What if there was a planet section? where you can have a rover bay bit in your ship and you can land your ship but instead of it being top-down its side to side? and when you have the part in your ship you can click on it and edit your rover?
Was playing around with multiple ships, and found that it is rather easy to forget where I parked my Dreadnaught for clearing the really hard areas while I skip about the system in a tiny fighter. My proposed solution? A beacon part that requires only power to start it up, and displays a large symbol over the system the ship is in. Mostly for large ships that use lots of fuel, and use a scout ship.
It does have it and it's useful if I know which system cluster it's in or where it is relatively in the galaxy, but it's rather small relative to the max-size galaxies; I miiight have a mod that reduces the icon sizes but I don't think so. I end up having to park at memorable locations like the northernmost system.
I love this game soooooo much- a few years ago I fell in love with FTL, but was slightly disappointed with the lack of actual tactical combat and ship construction- this game excels in both, and scratches the itch that FTL gave me!
Obviously because FTL is the closest game I can compare to, there's some features either from it or inspired by it that I would love to see in game. Obviously this game is not FTL and doesn't need any of its features, but it did some things right. The features I had in mind are: Peaceful merchant ships that you can trade with to unlock weapons, or add Surplus Ammo/Rockets/Batteries that could stack up in a Hanger Bay or something. Optional systems accessed via rare warp-gates that have... harder enemies? Traders? Maybe an entire area with wrecked ships you can clear up for that little extra money/trading resources? Force Arrows that you can toggle that are just a visual layer that shows the direction and amount of force an engine or railgun will inflict on the ship, so propulsion planning is less guesstimation and more careful planning. Maybe have another that shows how easily it would be able to navigate in any way- so you can tell before navigation that the tiny ships are better at strafing, but a longer one better at chasing. AND FINALLY Enemy ships fleeing either if they're overpowered by a certain percent, or their ship is damaged beyond a threshold. I.E. if you attack a ship, it'll attempt to either outright outrun you or spin up it's FTL drive and respawn just as damaged in the nearest system- and depending on timing, may be repaired by the time you get there?
I am unable to download the 14.4 update. Trying to update it in-game says "An exception occurred during WebClient request." And the setup file from itch.io keeps saying "The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program." I have tried multiple times to no avail. Hopefully it's nothing serious.
Okay, I have managed to download the update, I tried it again in-game and it was able to complete it. I don't know what was happening, it might have been something on my end, but the 14.4 setup downloaded from here still doesn't work for me. Maybe something to look into, just incase anyone else has run into the problem too.
everytime i try to launch the game it crashes and gives me an error and log report, im not sure if its just something with my computer or a bug but its verry annoying
I love the game! I have spent weeks playing this game and I consider it one of my favourite games.
If I were to suggest anything it would be a transmission system or something so you could ask bandits to surrender or add them to your crew if you could intimidate them enough, perhaps having to train crew to be negotiators? Either way it is an amazing game, keep up the good work!
this game is really rich. i wonder how to adjust every crew in the spaceship. i got my self a few hours on this game and tons of them in next week :D will make a video of this!!!
love your game kind of wish it had more weapons not fussing also if u could had like a loot system like rarity to some weapons and a little bit of a plot on why u are doing what u are doing in space any way love the game can wait till more is added
I agree, I love this game. Did you know that the game fully supports community-based mods? Most of these mods are large packs of weapons and spaceship parts, and (like most mods) augment the game to the point where it feels like you've "unlocked the next tier of ships and ship weapons". :D
You can add enemies in Creative Mode by spawning them in and then clicking the little menu button next to their name in the lower-left and changing their Allegiance.
During the download, a file extraction error occurred after the game was downloaded and it is not natural without error. extracting files unable to create or save new files in the folder into which
I'd be pretty shocked if AVG didn't have a whitelist. But if you can't get that to work, then there's another, somewhat-advanced workaround, which is to tell Cosmoteer to save ships & games in a different directory using a command-line argument: --rootsavepath "C:\CosmoteerSaves"

Please make a Mac version I played this on my Windows computer and it is probably the best game on itch but I would much rather use my Mac.
Can you make a linux edition?
Hopefully eventually, but the game needs to do well enough on Windows to justify the investment.

Okay, Here's a idea....
What if there was a planet section? where you can have a rover bay bit in your ship and you can land your ship but instead of it being top-down its side to side? and when you have the part in your ship you can click on it and edit your rover?

This would take many many hours of extra work and its not really what the game is about.

Any system that you have ships parked in while have a little ship icon next to it in the galaxy map. Is that useful to you?

I think they mean that you can get your save data anywhere.
I agree with this too. That would've prevented me losing all my custom ships when my old computer conked out on me.

What does new update have
Last time i played this was "215 days ago" and im glad the game is still going!
I did experience one bug which wouldn't allow me to save my ships saying the path it takes to save it was denied.
That's your anti-virus or anti-ransomware blocking Cosmoteer. Try adding Cosmoteer to its whitelist.
I use AVG and it doesn't seem to have a white-list option so that kinda sucks.
